Auster 5 Serie

General information about the Oyster 5 series

The Oyster 5, also Taylorcraft Oyster V, is a single-engine light aircraft. Developer and manufacturer of the machine with instruments for the blind flight, is the British company Auster Aircraft Limited. The aircraft was developed in 1944 as a development of the Oyster lV and was produced with more than 790 machines more than any other Taylorcraft models. The Oyster 5, which as an innovation possessed metal dashboards, exists in various variants. The installation of swimmers for theaters of war in the Pacific and the Far East was just as possible as the mounting of skids for use on snow-covered ground. Another modification was the conversion of the Oyster 5 to an ambulance plane, as well as the addition of cameras. Even telephone cables could be laid with a special variant from the air. The last model H, served as a training glider after removing the engine and tank. Later, the oyster 5 served as a template for the Civil Oyster J / 1 Autocrat.
