The Dornier 328-300 is also called Dornier 328JET and in 1997 introduced a new segment of significantly smaller steel-powered regional aircraft. It is a twin-engine regional jetliner. As a prototype, a converted Dornier 328-100 completed its rollout on 6 December 1997. In January 1998 then took place the official first flight. The Dornier 328-300, which is accident-free until today, differs from predecessors such as the Dornier 328-100 in particular with the Pratt & Whitney PW306B turbofan. 224 machines were manufactured until the production stop, of which 221 were completely produced in Germany. A Dornier 328-300 went to the former Formula 1 racing driver Gerhard Berger.

The Dornier 328-300 is 21.28 meters long, 7.24 meters high and offers space for 33 passengers and 2 crew members. With a span of 20.98 meters and a wing area of 40 square meters, the machine remains the same as its predecessors. The unladen weight of 9,420 kilograms can be increased to a maximum take-off weight of 15,660 kilograms. The machine can land at a maximum weight of 14,390 kilograms. The Dornier 328-300 reaches a speed of 737 kilometers per hour with a range of 1,667 kilometers. The two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW306B turbofan engines also have an increased output of 26.9 kilonewtons per engine. Their climb performance is 1,125 meters per minute, which means a significant improvement over their predecessors. In addition, the service summit height is 10,668 meters.
