General information about Embraer EMB-500 / Phenom 100

Also known as Phenom 100, the Embraer EMB-500 is a Very Light Jet (VLJ) launched in 2007 by the world's fourth largest aircraft manufacturer, the Brazilian Empresa Brasileira de Aeronáutica S.A. EMBRAER, is produced. The Minijet is powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW617F twin-shaft turbofan engines, each with 7.19 kN thrust, designed specifically for VLJs. In standard configuration, the 1.5 meter high and 1.55 meter wide cabin of the Embraer EMB-500 / Phenom 100 can accommodate four passengers and a maximum of two pilots. Removal of the toilet can carry up to six passengers. It is 12.82 meters long and 4.35 meters high. The wing span is 12.3 meters and the wing area 18.76 square meters. The empty weight is 3,275 kilograms and the maximum takeoff weight is 4,800 kilograms. The range covers 2,148 kilometers and the cruising speed 509 kilometers per hour. The maximal service ceiling is 12,500 meters.

Development and variants of the Embraer EMB-500 / Phenom 100

In April 2005, the EMBRAER Board approved the development of a VLJ. Seven months later, on November 9, 2005, the company presented a scale model of the new mini jet at the annual National Business Aviation Association Convention, announcing the marketing name Phenom 100 on July 26, 2007. The prototype's maiden flight took place on July 26, 2007 in São Paulo / Brazil instead. It was approved on 9 December 2008 by the Brazilian Air Traffic Control Agency Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil (ANAC), on 12 December 2008 by the American Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and on 24 April 2009 by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA ). On December 24, 2008, EMBRAER delivered the first Embraer EMB-500 / Phenom 100 to a customer. The original version, the Phenom 100, was followed by an improved form, the Phenom 100E (Enhanced), with multifunctional spoilers and eleven attractive standardized interiors for improved looks. In addition, this version features upgrades to the Prodigy Flight Deck, which uses Garmin G1000 avionics, as well as a powerful brake-by-wire braking system. A later version, the Phenom 100EV ("Evolution"), equipped with a Prodigy Touch Flight Deck, has improved thrust, improved pitch time from 33 minutes to 25 minutes, up to a maximum service peak of 12,500 meters and a reduced takeoff Distance from higher airports. The first aircraft of this type was delivered on March 31, 2017. A further development of the Embraer EMB-500 / Phenom 100 is the Embraer EMB-505 / Phenom 300, which, according to the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA), has been the bestselling business jet since 2013.
